An organization that was established to help after the Gatlinburg wildfires in 2016, has been reactivated to help those affected by the Wears Valley fires. It’s called Mountain Tough.
You can drop off donations at the Sevier Co. Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Here’s what is needed as of now:
- Water, soft drinks, sports drinks (Powerade, Gatorade)
- Non-perishable food
- Baby formula, diapers and baby food
- New clothes (used clothing will NOT be accepted)
You can make a monetary donation at any Citizens National Bank location. The checks should be made payable to Mountain Tough.
If you had losses due to the wildfires, contact the Red Cross. You can report your loss at 1-800-Red Cross or you can go to the website at RedCross.org/gethelp.

Mountain Hope Good Shepherd Clinic is offering medication and medical equipment assistance.
Helen Ross McNabb Center of Sevier County is offering mental health support.
Sevier Animal Care Center is distributing pet food and helping with displaced pets.
Sevier County Office on Aging (865-453-8080 x 105) and Douglas-Cherokee Meals on Wheels (423-318-6936, 423-587-4500) are providing meals to seniors 60+ years old.
Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Mission (SMARM), TN Valley Coalition for the Homeless and Douglas-Cherokee Economic Authority are offering emergency housing, rent and utility assistance.
